Microsoft Access Importing Problem

I receive an Excel Spreadsheet every 2 weeks that I reformat and import into Access.

Some of the columns in Excel contain both numbers and text. I reformat those columns to text. The field in Access that will receive this data is also formatted to text.

But when I import into Access, if the first data that fields receives is numbers if is fine until it receives text it will not import the data from those fields.

If I sort the excel data so that the text fields are the first records to import all works fine.

Any help would be appreciated

Fastest way to copy a worksheet?
Hold down the Ctrl key while dragging tab for Sheet1 to the right. Excel will make a copy of the worksheet.
Hi,

thats a general problem in access. If you have a column with text- and number-values you will always get this error. 'Cause access is looking up a few rows, and if there are only numbers in it, it is a number-field for access. So the text-values will cause an error.
I haven't found another as putting the values in an other order.
You could try to export the data into a text-file and then import the text-file into access, but dunno if this works..

How are you actually doing the import?

Are you actually importing to the existing table?

Hi Norie

Yes I am importing into and existing table. I haven't tried to import into a new table. When I go in to the office I can try that.

Thanks
