I have a table with 3 fields;

Social Security PP REG
111111111 01/01/03 02/05/03

The problem is some of the PP dates are blank (null), but ALL Reg dates contain a date. How can I merge the two fields where the null fields in PP are replaced with date contained under REG? Also if PP does contain a date (is not null) it should not be merged with REG date.

thanks!

How to fill five years of quarters?
Type 1Q-2023 in a cell. Grab the fill handle and drag down or right. After 4Q-2023, Excel will jump to 1Q-2024. Dash can be any character.
Create an expression field in a query and use something like this:
NewPP: iif(isnull([pp]),[REG],[PP])

Refer to this new field anywhere where you were referring to the actuall [PP] field. It will always have [REG] as a value if the source [PP] field is null.

works like a charm!!! I implemented in the query that generated this table in the first place to automatically create the additional column without splitting it.

awesome!

thanks!
