Merging Cells in shared workbook

Hi - I'm hoping someone will be able to help me here...

Why can I not merge cells in my shared workbook? The option has been removed from the Formatting toolbar and the Format Cells menu.

I am trying to copy a worksheet from a non-shared workbook into a shared workbook. The original document uses merged cells, but these are not copied into the destination document, and there is not the option to 're-merge'. :banghead:

Any ways around this?

Thanks.

Can you AutoAverage in Excel?
There is a drop-down next to the AutoSum symbol. Open the drop-down to choose AVERAGE, COUNT, MAX, or MIN
From Help:

Limitations of shared workbooks

Some features of Microsoft Excel are not available when you use a shared workbook. If you need to use these features, do so before you share the workbook, or remove the workbook from shared use.

In a shared workbook, you cannot do the following:

Merge cells. You can view cells that were merged before you shared the workbook.

Hello, Jon. Welcome to the Bored.

Yet another example of why the Merged Cells feature is at times politely referred to as a Royal P.I.T.A. and at other times as &%$@+^&.

If you want a close approximation of merged cells, without all the hassles, highlight the range of cells, and then use Format>Cells>Alignment>Horizontal>Center Across Selection.
