Hi,
Has anyone managed to successfully measure distance between Lat / Lon (Decimal Degrees) coordinates in Excel?
I was given the below example by someone, but I can’t seem to get it work:
=6371*(ACOS(SIN(K$2*PI()/180)*SIN(C2*PI()/180) + COS(K$2*PI()/180)*COS(C2*PI()/180)*COS((J$2-B2)*PI()/180)))
Key:
Home parkrun = Lat: J$2 / Lon: K$2
Comparison parkrun = Lat: B2 / Lon: C2
I have attempted this with my data (highlighted this in yellow in my worksheet) where I’m trying to measure the distance between my home parkrun (Coed Cefn-pwll-du) and my nearest run I haven’t completed yet (Trelai Park parkrun). I know the distance should approximately be 14K. - I think this is as the crow flies.
My file is here: My parkrun Record - GEOGRAPHY.xlsx
Thanks!
