Matrix and cell next to the left

Hello everybody.

In a cell I have a matrix correctly set up that copies a value of another cell.

Suppose, for simplicity:

{=MAX(B5:B10)}

But in effect I need the value in the cell next to left: so, if the max value is B7, i need the value in A7.

How can I instruct the formula?

=MAX((B5:B10=MAX(B5:B10))*A5:A10)

I'm going to change something (also if it seems to me having translated well the expression in my home language).

Are you sure that the function MOD accepts formulas as first parameter?

Ctrl+Shift+Enter run the formula, not just press enter to finish and you will get the answer.

Why are you applying control+shift+enter to this formula?
