1. Algebra Practical I

A fitness trainer wishes to design a custom field track by setting a number of straight
paths and quarter circle turns (in meters). Create an Excel sheet which must
contain the following.

a) The user can input the value of one straight path length and one quarter
circle turn radius.
b) The user can input the number of straight paths and quarter circle turns.
c) Display the total perimeter of the entire field track (maximum 2 decimals).
d) All input/output must be displayed in “meters” (m).

How should my formula and table look like? I really can't get my head around this question

Welcome to the Board!

While we may be willing to toss a few "hints" your way, please do not expect us to complete your assignments for you (that would kind of defeat the purpose).
Often times, you will get some good "hints" if you show the effort you have made yourself on this, and ask specific, pointed questions, or ask for critiques on the methods and formulas you have tried.

Unfortunately, those sites are blocked for me at my present location (for security reasons, my workplace blocks those sites and doesn't allow downloading of internet files). Perhaps someone else will take a look. Just note that a fair number of people here cannot or will not download files from the internet, in the interest of security.

Other alternatives are to post select screen images. There are tools you can use to post screen images. They are listed in Section B of this link here: http://www.mrexcel.com/forum/board-a...forum-use.html. Also, there is a Test Here forum on this board that you can use to test out these tools to make sure they are working correctly before using them in your question.

I guess I am not quite clear regarding the shape of this track.
It should obviously have 4 quarter circles, but could have 2 or 4 straight paths (could be shaped like an oval, or like a square with round corners).

The perimeter for the straight parts is pretty easy, it is just the length of a straight part.
The formula for the perimeter (circumference of a circle) is: 2 * pi * radius
So the perimeter (circumference) of a quarter circle would be one-quarter of that, or: 1/2 * pi * radius
To find the perimeter of the total track, you would just add up each piece.

This may be a starting point !!
Just find the dimensions ??
