Hello,

Do you know if and how you can access Master Data Services via Power Query?

I could access the MDS via the Excel Add-in Master Data Explorer. You pointed to the MDS via a URL, http://xxxxxx/MDS . I tried using a few variations with the SQL and SQL Server Analysis Services items under the From Database but I feel like I'm wandering around in the dark.

Thanks,
Alex

@ScottSenkeresty can connect to #SQLServer running the MDS db and extract data into #powerquery , but not direct connector in #PowerQuery

Using the MDS Add-in for Excel you could extract and save data to Excel (or any other source that Power Query can consume) and use that data as a source in Power Query...
There is no 'connector' to the MDS data model stored on the SQL Server ;-)
What are you trying to accomplished?

Thanks guys! Yeah, I had ended up doing just that, using the MDS add-in and pointing Power Query to the XLS.
Power Query has been a great for doing ETL that I can build, share with my group and know that we're all pulling the latest/same data. Add-ing MDS to the mix is probably doable but it'd be a pain for a group of people. Also, it's incredibly slow. Using PowerQuery and connecting to the SQL server a refresh takes 10-20 seconds and the same amount of data via MDS takes about 10 minutes (these are to the same server). I was hoping that the MDS add-in was just flaky and PowerQuery would be quicker. My experience with MDS is pretty limited so it could just be this specific instance.

Thanks again.
