Making Custom Colours appear on the Colour Palette on Startup

Hi:

This particular issue relates to Office 2013, but I believe it also is current in 2016.

We have common MS Office theme thmx files populating custom colors, which works as expected on PPT and Word, ie the formatting colour palettes contain three sections, Theme Colors, Custom Colors and Standard Colors available immediately on document open.

The thmx file has been edited by adding several custom colors - the theme.xml inside ThemeName.thmx has several new entries in the <a:custclrlst> fragment < a:custClrLst > works well with Word and PPT.

But there are some issues with Excel displaying or not displaying Custom Colors in its formatting palettes.

Our new excel documents are based on xlxt templates which use the theme.

This adds the correct Theme Colors and fonts etc, but NOT the custom colours. We can see the custom theme selected in the Page Layout-Themes tab.

We are also using CRTX files with the same themes for the charts.

When we add a chart to the worksheet the Custom Colors are displayed.

By using keystroke Copy and Paste the custom colours appear in all relevant palettes once the chart has been created.

When the file is closed and re-opened the Custom Colors are lost... and we have to reedit the chart to see, again, the custom colors.

My question: how can we ensure Custom Colors are displayed and available under the formatting palettes on startup in Excel every time.

Its a bit of a head-scratcher....</a:custclrlst>
