Making Active area of worksheet

Where I now work has many workbooks that have blue borders around the active area of the worksheet and the rest is filled in with gray. I cannot figure out how to do this simple formatting. A little help is appreciated.

Hello and welcome to The Board.
What you describe is what I would expect to see when the worksheet is being viewed in "Page Break Preview".
Cannot give you precise instructions how to change it to 'Normal' view as you did not say which version of Excel is being used.
Have a look in Excel Help - if you cannot find the answer, come back with the Excel version.
