Make a score worm

What I want to do is make a chart like this:

That shows score and when they happen. So a team score a goal at the 3 minute mark, their margin goes up 6 points, then a point at the 5 minute mark, they go up to 7 points, then at the 14 minute mark the other team scores a goal and it goes back to 1 point margin, at the appropriate time on the timeline.
Is there any way to do this in excel?
 

Excel Facts

Format cells as time
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+2 to format cells as time. (Shift 2 is the @ sign).
Excel does some strange things with charts depending on the header cells. I think I can straighten this out/

Delete the contents of cells D1:E1.
In E2, type "Margin".

Select D2:E35 and insert a line chart–the chart looks ugly.
Select the chart horizontal axis and Format it as a Date axis.

You should now have a step chart.
