i set all the cells heights to 20, thereafter i typed into some cells which needs taller height due to much words, and with the help of autofit, it automatically increase the cell height.
later, i decided to change the default cell height to 15, how do i change it such that the taller cells will still maintain its height while the cells that contain only a line words will reduce back to 15?

Excel Facts

What is the fastest way to copy a formula?
If A2:A50000 contain data. Enter a formula in B2. Select B2. Double-click the Fill Handle and Excel will shoot the formula down to B50000.

I am pretty sure that you would need to use the same steps you used for the first custom settings.

ok. is it possible to easily detect / locate cells whose words has become invisible due to adjustment of cell height?

The data is still there, it is just out of frame. Try selecting the cell and using the arrow keys up, down, left, right. You might also be able to fix it by formatting the cell alignment to 'Center'.
