Hi

Can someone tell me please how I would keep the rows static in a mailmerge.

I have the usual fields in word: -

<name>
<address1>
<address2>
<address3>

etc.,

but need the salutation to be on a specific row, but where there is no data in address 2, the rows are moved up.

How to I keep the Salutation on the row I need it to be at all times.

Many thanks

Excel Facts

Return population for a City
If you have a list of cities in A2:A100, use Data, Geography. Then =A2.Population and copy down.
Hi debbyg,

It's not clear from your post where the salutation appears. If it's after the addresses, I'd suggest putting the name & address mergefields into a single-cell table of the desired fixed row height. That way, if one or more of the lines is empty, it won't affect the layout of anything that follows the table.

I am not able to test this out right now, but in theory it seems like the following idea might work:
What if you place a single space on each row after the merge fields? Then, even if you are not merging in any field, there is still something on that row, so the row shouldn't get suppressed.
