Macros disabled from spreadsheet copy

I used an existing multisheet spreadsheet as a model to modify it for a new purpose. The original spreadsheet has several VBA macros and it has previously been used as a model for a new S/S. This time, I found that the macros in the new copy are disabled and I cannot enable them for execution via an installed button. Even deleting the button and adding a replacement with the appropriate Assign Macro defined, it still generates a "Cannot run the macro ''**MUTUAL FUND TRACK.xlsm'!Chart'. The macro may not be available in this workbook or all macros may be disabled."
Thus buttons no longer work although the macros will run if triggered by a manual select in the Macro list window, They will also run in a VBA window with Shft-Cmd-I command. This condition exists even when the original s/s is not activated.
Is there a master setting in Excel somewhere that would correct this?
Many thanks.

Excel Facts

Test for Multiple Conditions in IF?
Use AND(test, test, test, test) or OR(test, test, test, ...) as the logical_test argument of IF.
Look towards the Security Control Center in the main Excel settings menu.

Thanks for the idea. However, changing the setting to "Enable all macros....." made no difference - other than to bypass the warning message when opening the spreadsheet.
The buttons still do not run the macros.
