I am creating letters to customers and each tab has a customers information on it. The information on some tabs may have more rows than other tabs. Is there a way to create a macro that sets the print area on each tab based on the last row that has characters in it?

When did Power Query debut in Excel?
Although it was an add-in in Excel 2010 & Excel 2013, Power Query became a part of Excel in 2016, in Data, Get & Transform Data.
This code uses column A to determine the last row and uses row 1 to determine last column. This will loop through your workbook and set the print area to that range of rows/columns.

Code:
Public Sub Workbook_Print_Area()
Dim ws      As Worksheet

Dim LR      As Long, _
    LC      As Long

For Each ws In ActiveWorkbook.Worksheets
    With ws
        LR = .Range("A" & Rows.Count).End(xlUp).Row
        LC = .Cells(1, Columns.Count).End(xlToLeft).Column
        .PageSetup.PrintArea = .Range(.Cells(1, 1), .Cells(LR, LC)).Address
    End With
Next ws

End Sub
