Is it possible on opening of a workbook to set macro security to low, as i have a spreadsheet for multiple distrubutino to assessors all over the country however i dont want any of the data tampered with, just let them fill in what needs be so i have the workbook protected and they can only select specific cells. There are macros that are in that that actuve on certain cell selections but the security needs to be set to low for this to work, so

If it is possible can you set the security of excel or the workbook to low as you open the workbook?

Thanks

Excel Facts

Copy formula down without changing references
If you have =SUM(F2:F49) in F50; type Alt+' in F51 to copy =SUM(F2:F49) to F51, leaving the formula in edit mode. Change SUM to COUNT.
I don't think so. If a user want to use some security, it's not be sure not to launch unwanted macros. If a file could specify itself the security on its opening, all seeking evil would do that and the security would be totally useless!

Hello,

This is a training issue, not a programming one. Your end-users really should not be running Low Security in my opinion, in any case, this exposes them to all sorts of unannounced rubbish. If they want to run your Macros, they should to set their security to Medium and Enable them. Or go the route of digital certificates...

Hacking their Security puts your end-users at risk, not good. I would not want you playing with my settings like this, in fact I'd upset with you.

Even if there is a way, which won't be posted in this thread, it's going to be hard to manipulate their security if they don't run your code in the first place. ;)

There's really no getting around educating your end-user on this one, it's for their own good! :)

Is it something that can happen the first time you open the workbook? Or do you have to authorize the macro at least the first time?

I don't want to know how to do it, just to be sure that my security can't be set to low without my knowledge.

You'd have to authorize it the first time, unless your Macro Security settings are all ready set to Low, in which case, it would be moot.

This why I said this is a training issue, at some point, your end-user needs to enable your VBA procedures.

But you probably would not realize that it had changed, which is why it won't be posted in this thread.

Do unto others as you would to yourself. And on that note, I shall lock this thread. :)
