Macro buttons -- Excel 2007 vs 2003

I recently migrated from Excel 2003 to 2007... what a difference! I felt that I was a power user in 2003, and like a newbie in 2007 -- it will definitely take some getting used to.

In 2003 I used the Customize option to create menu buttons to run macros. The macros are called by pressing the button -- the workbook is not open first, and everything runs like a charm. As a bonus, it is very easy to save the menu buttons to a spreadsheet (Tools, Customize, (select the toolbar) and Attach. Anyone who opens the workbook has instantly installed a copy of the toolbar.

In 2007, I've figured out how to add a button to the quick access toolbar, but from there it doesn't run the macro unless the workbook is already open. Besides this issue, is there a way to make the buttons 'portable' as I described in 2003 so they can be handed off to other users?

Thanks for any advice.
