Hi,

I am wondering if there is a way of createing something similar to the VLOOKUP function from Excel.

I have a telephone bill and would like to track who my employees are calling. To assist with this and so I am not just looking at a number I would like to create something which will list who the number belongs to.

I have a contact table with a telephone number and the company it belongs to.

I then also have a table (per employee) which lists their calls.

I have previously used Excel and inserted a VLOOKUP function to lookup the owner of the telephone number called but this takes a long time to update when the file gets to the sizes I'm working with.

I am a novice user of Access so any help would be appreciated.

Quick example of data I want is

Date Time Employee No.Called WhoCalled.

Thanks

Jon

Excel Facts

VLOOKUP to Left?
Use =VLOOKUP(A2,CHOOSE({1,2},$Z$1:$Z$99,$Y$1:$Y$99),2,False) to lookup Y values to left of Z values.
You should be able to simply link (create a relationship) the two tables on a common field (phone number), and use a query to return the fields you want.
