Hi folks. I'm new to this board so please forgive any minor transgressions.

I have tried searching for the answer but without success.

I have two datasets: the first contains a large number of records each containing a unique identifier which relates to something happening between a start and end date; the second contains data relating to the records in the first data set but the occurrence is on a single date, the records contain the same unique identifier as the first.

I need to pull information from the second database into the first when the identifier match and the date falls within the range in the first database.

For example a patient is admitted to hospital on day 1 and discharged on day 5. During that time various investigations are carried out but on specific days. The only unique identifier is the patient reference number. It is entirely possible that in any one year the same person with the same number could have been admitted several times so simply matching using the patient number won't help the dates are crucial.

I have no idea how to tackle this and maybe excel isn't the correct tool.

Any help would be much appreciated.

How to change case of text in Excel?
Use =UPPER() for upper case, =LOWER() for lower case, and =PROPER() for proper case. PROPER won't capitalize second c in Mccartney
