Lookup in a query and enter results

I have a form based on a query, it shows codes dependant on who the record is for. The codes are grouped into 3 area, Comms, Service and ProgLib. All the codes with their group are in a table. Is there anyway to make a query that will look at the code for a particular record and then return which group it has come from?
