Hi, sorry this is probably pretty simple to work out but I'm very time poor at the moment and am only an eighth of the way through this project.
I need to calculate how much we owe each person.
Person in column A. Amounts owed to that person are in column D.

Thanks so much!

Excel Facts

Copy formula down without changing references
If you have =SUM(F2:F49) in F50; type Alt+' in F51 to copy =SUM(F2:F49) to F51, leaving the formula in edit mode. Change SUM to COUNT.
Sorry just realised I didn't attach my spreadsheet and now I can't work out where/how I can do it!?

Sounds like you need to be looking in the direction of SUMIF

As we can't see your data I've just asked the formula to look in A1 and sum up the values based in column D

Code:
=SUMIF(A:A,A1,D:D)

Amend the A1 part of the formula to where the persons name will be you want to calculate the totals for.
