Looking for software

I work for a printing company. We have been supplied a membership list that I will clean & massage in Excel. Our finished printed product will look much like a phone book.

Does anyone know of graphics software that will integrate with Excel and save out a .pdf or .eps file? Mail Merge in Word isn't an option because the records have variable lines and the leading between records needs to be constant.

I'm thinking Adobe In Design might be the solution for you (depending on your budget). It's very good at precise control of leading, kerning, and other advanced typographical edits that you seem to be concerned with. And since it's Adobe, it shouldn't have any problem converting to PDF.

The only thing you will have to ask someone is how it handles compatability with Office products such as Excel. I don't know the answer to that.

Let us know what you find out because the company I work at is switching to this product sometime this year, and I'm curious to know the answer as well. :-D
