Today I tried to open an Access file and it asks me to logon with a user name and password but I don't recall ever turning anything to require me to logon. It asks for it on any Access file I try to open.
I tried other Office programs and they open fine like Word and Excel files they open just fine. I am using Office XP, at work I use office 97 and opened some of the same files just fine. Thanks for your help.

Waterfall charts in Excel?
Office 365 customers have access to Waterfall charts since late 2016. They were added to Excel 2019.
Have you accedentially altered your user Account in Access?
(Tools / Security ) User tab
When it doesn't display Admin by User name it is probably altered.

I don't really like working with the access security, but thinking about what I remember. I believe there is a file, system.mdw that holds some relevant data to login. Should you (or somebody else) have setup access to the file previously, and misplace this file, you will have problems.

On the login thing. Assuming it's not a missing system.mdw file.

It's hard to accidentally do this. You have to go to tools-security- then set a password for the whole database. You can also work into the other three options (user & group & the wizard interface to setup access). If there's a chance that somebody else has access to the file, they may have done it.
