yes, I have a tConfig table with field InUse field to hold the userID of the 1st person in.
when user opens it, the flag is set to their UserID
anyone else after, get sees the flag = true so every form get set to locked (or snapshot)
me.locked = IsDbInUse()
Code:
public function IsDbInUse() as boolean
vMyID= Environ("Username")
vRet= dlookup("[userid]","tConfig" ) & ""
if vRet = "" or vRet = vMyID then
IsDbInUse =false
else
IsDbInUse = true
endif
end function
Depending on what you mean by lock down the file, you can also set the database for exclusive use in the database options. This means that only one person can use the database at a time (other users will just get a message saying the database is already opened for exclusive use).
