Hi,

I have a problem. I would like to lock my shared workbook so people wont be able to delete the added formulas, however they still need to add new rows and columns. It's a financial forecasting system.

If there is a way to protect the formulas in the workbook would be a great help as well.

Many thanks

Excel Facts

Will the fill handle fill 1, 2, 3?
Yes! Type 1 in a cell. Hold down Ctrl while you drag the fill handle.
You can simply lock the cells with formulae and when you protect the sheet (right-click sheet name), click Protect sheet and then click "insert row" in the menu that appears

You need to set the security for the cells/range you want to permit editing and those you don't.
Then use the Protect Workbook\... from the File menu.

just a note, this level of security on a file can be bypassed. It is difficult enough to generally not be a problem for internal use.
