HI

We have a database that comes up with and error message " Fatal Error" with the message This database has been made rudunant .

Needless to say we have had make some workers rudundant just lately .

It is a access 97 database , is there anyway we can get into it or should we just write it off and start again ??

If i could get round this i could then update it to 2016 .

Thanks in advance

When did Power Query debut in Excel?
Although it was an add-in in Excel 2010 & Excel 2013, Power Query became a part of Excel in 2016, in Data, Get & Transform Data.
You may be able to create a new database (i.e. in Access 2016), and then import all of the objects from your old database to the new one (External Data -> Import & Link -> Access).
This is what I often do when I get corruption errors in an old database. You can even import any Import/Export Specifications, VBA code, and other things.
Give it a try and see if that works for you.

I have just tried that but access 2016 just says it cannot open a database created in a priviouse version

You are NOT opening it, you are importing the data objects. You should be able to do that (I have imported from older version many times).
Here are some instructions that show how to import Access 95 databases (mdb) into Access 2007 (accdb).
https://support.office.com/en-us/ar...versions-2e9d8851-101d-4407-a881-65d06bb12aa7

Since they are different versions, and they work, it should work in importing a 97 database into 2016.
The menus may be constructed slightly differently, but the steps are the same.
