Lock cells format but allow text editing

Does anyone know how to prevent changing the cells borders?? OCD is going crazy? Essentially in the top left cell and top right cell of the table people are dragging the number down to speed up their data entry but it just looks awful.

I don't think the table below gives the best idea, but basically: I created a row (3) between the headers and data and hid it. That hidden row has now borders. I added an extra column to the left of the table (Col L) where the left edge of the table holds the vertical border. When i drag data down, it doesn't copy an borders.

yeah thats a cool work around i will do that as a temporary fix
