Hello Everyone,
Just a question: I had a project and had a few data entry clerks entering data on my spreadsheet—only to find out they have been "stealing" someone else's entries by changing the captured row to their names.
So I was thinking, is it possible if someone captures in a cell and they move off that cell? Can that cell lock, and if we need to make changes, a password is used to unlock that cell only then it can be locked again?

And I remember before we could have multiple people capturing on one Excel spreadsheet—can this be done again? If so, please advise how I can do this.

or if someone can give me advise as to how I can set up the spreadsheet so that people dont steal lines and capture at the same time?

Thanking you in advance

Cross-posting (posting the same question in more than one forum) is not against our rules, but the method of doing so is covered by #13 of the Forum Rules.

There is no need to repeat the link(s) provided above but if you have posted the question at other places, please provide links to those as well.

If you do cross-post in the future and also provide links, then there shouldn’t be a problem.

Frankly it's probably not an Excel problem ... talk to your HR about that (or may be you hired them directly, do it yourself) and lay them off.

If they steal data from coworkers, they will steal money/goods from your clients at first opportunity.

I agree they should be laid off but I would like to prevent it from happening again - its very sad people are not honest

I would investigate each person having their own spreadsheet and than amalgamating them if and when necessary.
