Hi can anyone help?
Ive got a table with a equip code and a unique id number for each equip code. Ive now got a new table with the equip codes in. I want to replace the equip codes in my new table with their unique id from the other table.

I've been trying but i cant get them to work

Ive created teh query, linked the equip codes, then in the update to field wrote [tablesname],[fieldname]

But it does something strange

what could i be doning wrong

All i can get the update query to do is copy the data accross. I want it to copy the data and match it against the corresponding values in the new table.
