Hi,
I am programming an access application that links to tables in an external access database. This application is used by 2 different groups within my organisation...
The complication is this....
Each group use a different system of letters to map to the network drives.. for example
for group1 in the city g:\ drive is mapped to \\citybuilding server
while for group2 in the researchlab g:\ drive is mapped to \\researchlabs server
The problem is that when I link to a table in the external database.. The application is getting errors on other computers if drives are not exactly mapped to the same letters as my computer...
I have managed to get around this in excel by using the server name in the path of a database I connect to and not using drive letter...
eg..
I use
\\citybuilding\Water.mdb
not
g:\Water.mdb
So it doesn't matter what letter is mapped to what drives in windows for the individual users in the 2 groups.
Does anyone know a solution in access???
thanking in advanced
