Linked Excel object in Word: Strange update resizing

I have a Word doc that links to an Excel spreadsheet. The Word doc contains four objects that I pasted from Excel (via Paste Special, Paste link, Microsoft Office Excel Worksheet Object). About weekly, I will open both of the files and choose "Yes" when prompted by the Word doc about updating data from the linked file. I then make a few changes to the Excel sheet.

Here's the problem: Whenever I make any change in Excel that would cause the sheet to calculate (e.g. even entering the formula bar in a blank cell and pressing enter), the Word doc goes through a solid 30 seconds of sizing/resizing. The end result is fine (i.e. all of the objects are correctly sized and the updated data has come through), but I find it very bizarre all of the gyrating the doc has to go through. I should also note that the Excel document has formulas linking to a Bloomberg API (not sure if this is the correct terminology), so the Excel is pulling in outside data. Nonetheless, the gyrations seem very excessive.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Bill
