link won't work

Hi guys,
Whenever I read the boards and somebody supplies a link address, I am having trouble when I click on that link. My xp excel won't load to that address. It shows the little hour glass symbol but then nothing happens. I have to close that link and return to the opening page or board in question. Have I got something turned off that is stopping me from linking? Normal links seem okay. It only happens when a link is supplied in a forum situation. Any ideas or help would be appreciated.

Solved the problem. I was going to remove Internet Explorer 6 from my system and reload it to see if that would solve my dilema. When the dialogue box appeared asking to remove or repair explorer I selected the repair option and links are now working. Must have been a corrupt file.
