Link slicers across worksheets

Hello,

I have a dashboard with three different views (level 1, level 2, and level 3) each on their own separate worksheet. Each worksheet has its own month slicer for the pivots associated with that view. Each slicer is connected to about ten pivots, none of which overlap with eachother (i.e. the level 1 slicer only links to level 1 pivots). I'm trying to connect the slicers so that if I change the month on one slicer, the slicers on the other pages will update to the same month so users have a consistent view when moving from one tab to another. Is there a way to do this?

Thanks,
Sbrien

Hi Sbrien,

Jan Karel Pieterse has a nice 3-part article on slicers at this link...

Pivottable slicers Excel 2010

The 3rd part, titled "Slicers and VBA" has some diagrams that could help you visualize the relationship of the Pivot Cache(s) to the PivotTables and Slicers and clarify your options for connecting the slicers in your workbook (even if you don't use VBA).

You can only directly sync slicers which are tied to pivot tables which share the same pivot cache.

I guess the Month slicers connect to pivot tables which partly have different pivotcaches, don't they?

The page Jerry refers to has (in the comments) some example code on how to sync slicers which are not tied to the same pivotcache.
