Link and update a defined name to an activex textbox

Hi,

I have an activex textbox in sheet1 which should display a text from a linked cell in sheet2, although the text doesn't update as it should. The text should change depending on which value the user types in. The reference is created with a defined name from sheet2, the Offset and the Match-function. I need the Linkedcell to change between multiple values in a single column.

At the moment the reference looks like this:

Linkedcell = Name_def

(where Name_def is a defined name using Name Manager in Formulas)

Name_def = OFFSET(Sheet2!$A$1;MATCH(Sheet1!$A$1;Sheet2!$B$1:$B$10;0);1)

(where A1 in sheet1 contains the choice made by the user and the table in sheet2 is located at B2:B10-C2:C10)

It works at first when I apply the linked cell for the textbox in Properties, the correct text is displayed depending on the chosen value at that time. Unfortunately, as soon as the value is changed in sheet1 A1, the text stays the same and doesn't update. This is my problem: I want the text to change in the textbox when the value is changed in A1 (Sheet1).

It does work if I use a regular textbox, the problem there is the limit of 255 characters and that the text is cut off in the middle of a sentence. That's why I'm trying to use an activex controls textbox / VB textbox.

Please ask for clarification if needed as I realize my description is a bit messy.

Thanks
Fansk

How to create a cell-sized chart?
Tiny charts, called Sparklines, were added to Excel 2010. Look for Sparklines on the Insert tab.
Edit: I solved it by using another cell with the value = Name_def, and link the textbox to the cell instead of the defined name. I put the cell in another sheet but you could just hide the font in the cell. Primitive solution but it works, and no actual VB coding included, only formulas.
