Hi Bill, Hi JP

I've add alert message about limit post size to HtmlMaker.
If generated code is too huge, message box will appear as follows.

"The generated html code size over the max characters size of MrExcel message board.
If you want to post, please retry to select less than this time."

But some users ignore the message
And the generated code has been posted.
It makes layout of this board smash.

So I would ask you, is it possible to add to this board "alert@function" when posters text is over the limit?

Thnaks Juan.

Hi Aladin, what do you mean?
I guess you said the message should be...

"Your message is too long. Reduce your message to 60000(Assumeed) characters.
It is currentry 1000 characters long"

Something like this? Is my guess right? If so I agree.

Hi, Colo.

I assumed that Aladin was meaning that there should not even be a message box. That the box where you enter your message should simply stop accepting characters when the limit is reached.

Why don't you just limit the size of the data being uploaded to specific size and alert the users before hand and thats that?

Thanks a lot Kristy, Jack and pll.

Now I got it what Aladin wanted to say.

For make my opinion clear, plese see the following sample case.

Assume
.max limit is 10 characters.
.generated html size is 11 characters as follows.
12345678901

When user paste it into the Message Body: area
12345678901 is pasted Message Body: area.

But max limit is 10, so when the poster click Submit button html code will be
1234567890

(be cut off)
It's specification of this board.

But in this case Html will not be displayed correctly.
So I would like the poster to remake html code again.
I don't want the code is cut off to be specific size automatically without alert message.

Do I make myself clear?

Side note:

Maybe it would be nice to have a meter of sorts to see where one is in relationship to what is available....similar to the text message management on some of the wireless providers.

Uhmmmm..this may be expensive 'real estate' used as a trade off to getting more of the message contents in.....just a thought.
