liberty basic?

A friend of mine gave me a book he bought in Australia ("learn to program in 24 hours") with it came the usual cdrom. The book promises to give the reader a start with basic, java and c++ .

The "basic" part seems to be based on Liberty Basic not VB or VBA. Does anyone know anything about Liberty Basic and is it more or less useful than VB or VBA?
