Hi, I copied a formula and transfer it to my worksheet. However, it returns an "N/A" unlike from where I copied it from is working. Below is the formula

=(1+F7/k)^(k/p)-1

May I know how is it possible to use "k" and "p" in a formula? Do I need to assign a value to them?

Excel Facts

Enter current date or time
Ctrl+: enters current time. Ctrl+; enters current date. Use Ctrl+: Ctrl+; Enter for current date & time.
You can assign a named range to a cell.
For example, select cell F3, enter the Name Box and type the letter k. Select another cell say F5 for p.
Now write values in cells F3 and F5.

Thank you! for the quick response. But, it isn't what I am looking for. I am actually studying the formula use on this template from Vertex

https://www.vertex42.com/Calculators/college-savings.html

On column N6 and N7 it contain formula that has letters, when I tried it on my own worksheet it doesn't work.

On the template click the formulas tab and then click name manager and you will see what the letters refer to

Ok, I saw it already. However, when I checked the formula assigned to "p"

=INDEX(Savings!$F$18:$F$26,MATCH(Savings!$F$12,Savings!$E$18:$E$26,0),1)

It has F18:F26 and E18:E26 upon checking on the worksheet, those cells has no values except that the graph is placed there. Can a graph be used as reference on a formula?

The graph sits on top the data, if you left click and hold you'll find that you can drag it out of the way.

You'll find underneath that you have

19Semi-Annually2
