Hi All,

i have a left formulae which copies the 2 first letters from another cell.

I have put a true /false statement in this cell though now, and now the left formulae is showing TR and FA before data is entered.

Is there a way for the Left formulae to ignore if data in the cell is TR or FA?

Thank you in advance.

Excel Facts

Copy formula down without changing references
If you have =SUM(F2:F49) in F50; type Alt+' in F51 to copy =SUM(F2:F49) to F51, leaving the formula in edit mode. Change SUM to COUNT.
Use and IF statement to check the contents and output blank if it's TR or FA otherwise output the result of the LEFT

So im a little confused would the statement be, IF the cell does include TR and FR then leave blank, as i would like the information in The original cell to be used from the Left formulae?

Does this do the trick, or set you along the right path?

Code:
=IF(OR(LEFT(A1,2)="TR",LEFT(A1,2)="FR"),"",LEFT(A1,2))

Actually, if the TRUE and FALSE is the result of a Formula then you might be better with;

Code:
=IF(OR(A1=TRUE,A1=FALSE),"",LEFT(A1,2))

That way any none TRUE / FALSE will still return TR and FA

If the "another cell" is F1 then try
=IF(ISLOGICAL(F1),"",LEFT(F1,2))
