learning about named ranges

I have a range (a1:b26) named alphabet on sheet one, can I reference that range on sheet 2 for example e10 which will put the contents of each cell in "alphabet" into e10:f35 ?it seems every time I try to work with named ranges I get it wrong
using 2010, ut might need it to work on 2007 as well?

2 ways

1 - all at once

. select E10:F35
. in the formula bar write: =Alphabet
. confirm with Control-Shift-Enter


2 - with a formula in each cell

In E10: =INDEX(Alphabet,ROWS($E$10:E10),COLUMNS($E$10:E10))

Copy down and across
