Hey, welcome back to the MrExcel netcast, I'm Bill Jelen.
Hey, what do you think of that new theme?
That's George Wood.
It's called "Born to Excel".
Here in 2009, I made a resolution-- I'm really going to try and start to adopt Excel 2007.
It's been almost two years; what the heck, we might as well get used to it.
And, you know, the one thing that kind of just seems silly to me is, it's two years later and look down here at the bottom-- Sheet 1, Sheet 2, Sheet 3, every time I create a new workbook, I'm getting three sheets.
That's silly.
I've turned that off 10 years ago in the old Excel; why haven't I turned it off here in Excel 2007?
Well, if you have Excel 2007, let's go ahead and do that.
We're going to go to the Menu-- formerly known as File-- the Office icon, open that and at the very bottom of the dialog box choose Excel Options.
And the setting is so easy; it's right here on the very first tab, called "Include this many sheets".
Just go ahead and kick that back to one and you're good to go.
You can also decide if you want to change a different Font size.
Body Font is this new virtual font-- it's a font that's assigned to the theme.
And so while I'm really a Times New Roman kind of guy, I'm going to go ahead and leave it as Body Font rather than going to Times New Roman; that way, if I change the theme, the fonts will automatically change.
That's your preference-- whichever you want to do-- so click OK; let's quit; and restart Microsoft Excel.
Isn't that slick.
Okay I'm sure when I restart Excel and then I use the new icon, we will inherit workbooks with just one sheet.
And of course, now it's easier than ever to create new worksheets-- you don't have to go to Insert Worksheet, you just click this New Worksheet icon down here at the rightmost tab and you'll get new sheets very easily without having to worry about finding it on the Insert menu; which, by the way, it's not on the Insert menu-- it's on Home, and then Insert, and then Insert Sheet.
Much easier just to use the brand new Worksheet icon down at the bottom of Excel 2007.
