It starts to turn white as you enter cells.
Hey, here's a great voicemail.
I got tonight from Ray used Excel for years.
Just started Excel 2010, but now when he loads it it comes out with a gray background, but it's not just that it stays grey.
When he enters the cell it turns white and you also see page one on the screen.
What is going on there while I recognize this right away.
So, here's what we have Excel It's completely great.
Ah! But if you start to enter some data in here.
I'll do one, two, three [ CTRL+ENTER ] It turns white again, and we see this page number.
What is this.
This is Page break preview.
It has been around for a long long time.
And how do you get into that.
Very easy to accidentally get into that look down here by the zoom slider?
There are three little icons for normal page layout and page break preview.
Somehow we got in page break preview mode.
Just go back to normal and everything will be good.
Now, the other way that this could have happened at least everything being grey is we select all cells and go to format> Hide and Unhide.
Either hide rows or hide columns, then Excel starts out.
I guess it's more completely blue.
But see there's no way for it to ever start turning white.
So, if you have this select all cells and go to Format> Hide and unhide and say Unhide Rows.
And then also do the same thing unhide columns.
And you hopefully will get back.
Very frustrating right!
You've been using Excel forever.
As always just worked at all of a sudden, now you're in this weird mode.
Where everything is gray Especially on a brand new workbook, everything is gray.
How do you get back to the normal side.
Welcome to page break preview.
Of course if someone checked, don't show this again.
Okay I want to thank Ray for sending that question in.
And I want to say thank you for stopping by.
We'll see you next time for another netcast from MrExcel.
