He may not be able to spell Choropleth... but he can tell us about it! After Bill's latest week-long series centering on Microsoft GoeFlow, using Real Estate and Property locations [to find a Home in Florida, USA], a question came in about Heat Mapping. Today, in Episode #1703, MrExcel addresses 'Choropleth' Heat Mapping with the current Beta version of Microsoft GeoFlow.

Learn Excel from MrExcel podcast, episode 1703 - Luckily, I can't even spell Cloropleth!
Alright well hey, a few weeks ago I showed GeoFlow, that new preview for Excel 2013, and someone said "Hey, show us the heat maps!" Alright, so at that time I showed the Column chart, it was the real estate down in Florida, we'll take a look at the other two types here.
The Bubble chart, where every point is represented by the size, this is GDP, and then the HeatMap!
And the question was "Does it do a Choropleth HeatMap?" That's whether you color in the entire range of the state with the color.
And no, it does not do that, the GeoFlow team knows that this would be cool.
I probably last saw this back in the days of MapInfo Pro, very expensive mapping solution.
So right now GeoFlow does not do the heat maps, where they color in the whole state.
This data looks a lot better when you have lots of data points, sort of like in this real estate data that we did in the last one.
So let's change this from a Column, Bubble, with the bubbles just be way too large, wouldn't be able to see anything.
A heat map, eh yeah, alright.
Well there you go, that's what we have with the HeatMap.
Again remember, this is a project code-named GeoFlow, it's just in beta right now, the final product will, be perhaps a bit different.
So does it do Choropleth, HeatMaps?
No it doesn't, this is what we have.
Why hey, I want to thank you for stopping by, we'll see you next time for another netcast from MrExcel!
