Keeping Database small in ACCESS 97

I have a database that everyone at work is linking to (about 40+ people), through their own interface databases. Surprisingly enough, it had been working fine for the last year or so. Recently, however, the database has been growing very quickly, and it reaches the capacity of 1 GB with one week. What could have changed to make this start happening all of a sudden? It wouldn't be a problem if I didn't have to get everybody on the floor out of Access every week! If you have any suggestions to prevent this from happening, at least happening every week, please help!

Hi jobb,

Make sure you save a copy somewhere safe first, as I've had this utility trash a few dbs in the past. Also make sure you have no users logged on to the db.

Try:

Tools|Database Utilities|Repair Database

then (this is one utility in Access 2000 - Compact/Repair)

Tools|Database Utilities|Compact Database

That should help, especially if you've never done it before.
