It won't let me change the value to a dollar sign!

I downloaded this sheet from the county public records. Usually, I'd select the column and hit the dollar sign and viola! everything has a dollar sign and in the correct format. Can't do it with this sheet.. it doesn't do a thing when i click on the dollar sign...

help pls?

Once you apply the format you can goto Data-->Text to Columns-->Finish and that will coerce it.

It is available in your version of Excel, so I'm not sure what you mean. Is it disabled?

What you quoted isn't that friendly to me. I was able to Ctrl+GoTo but I did not see the same options you assume I should select.

Ok, I found it but something is missing between the 2nd and final/3rd step. It isn't working. See HERE.
