Hi there, first time posting a problem on here so please be kind....

I am having a problem copying data from one file to another in Excel. This issue is unique to the destination file as when I create a new Excel document the problem does not present itself. I'm loathed to start from scratch with the file itself though due to the amount of Macro currently in use which took a fair while to develop.

If for example I copy a range of data from columns A to F, when I paste the data into the destination file, the information pasted in are the contents of columns D to I. The same thing happens when I cut and paste the data. Has anyone ever come across this issue or have any advise as to what could be causing it?

Excel Facts

What is the fastest way to copy a formula?
If A2:A50000 contain data. Enter a formula in B2. Select B2. Double-click the Fill Handle and Excel will shoot the formula down to B50000.
Are you copying in code or manually?

No hidden columns on either sheet?

Nope, that was the first thing we checked. The only difference being that the destination file as columns at either end of the table for vlookups etc, but until 2 weeks ago the file worked normally so don't think that would be causing the issues we are now having. We even tried pasting from a few different source files to see if it had any affect.

The copying is being done manually by selecting the data range and right clicking copy at the moment. Trying to keep the file size down

If you disable macros, is the copy/paste still messed up? Are you pasting values only, or everything?
