Is UDF volatile or formulas?

Hello dear MrExcel,

Is this formula volatile:

Use =UPPER() for upper case, =LOWER() for lower case, and =PROPER() for proper case. PROPER won't capitalize second c in Mccartney
None of those are volatile as far as I can see.

Rory, out of curiosity, what determines whether or not a non-VBA Excel formula is volatile or not?

Typically it's only formulas that have don't take direct inputs for their calculations. e.g. OFFSET, INDIRECT, TODAY, NOW.

No MMULT isn't volatile. Why do you think any of these are volatile and what does a protected sheet have to do with volatility?
