I have a DB that has a couple millions of records and growing, and every record has a timestamp field which includes YYYY/MM/DD : HH:SS

I produce weekly and monthly reports, I am using DATEPART in 3 custom columns to be able to group by Week and Month and Year.

Is there a better way to do this?

Excel Facts

Copy formula down without changing references
If you have =SUM(F2:F49) in F50; type Alt+' in F51 to copy =SUM(F2:F49) to F51, leaving the formula in edit mode. Change SUM to COUNT.
if you are sorting on the timestamp field make sure it is indexed.

That is how I would do it.

Another option is to use Format(). Example: I use Format([timestamp], "YYYYMM") to group on months in year order.
