I am working on a chart of the week-to-week power rankings for the 32 NFL teams. I have created a chart of the rankings for the 49ers. With help from this forum in another thread, I have it almost done. I just need help with one more detail.

Here's the table that the chart is based on.

And here is the chart as it is now.

I would like to add the values from the Record column somewhere along the X-axis. For example, they could go across the top of the chart as in this version that I created manually. Is there any way to do this that is something I can understand? I have found several websites that say it is possible, but when I try their methods, it fails. I am probably doing something wrong, but I don't know what.

Yes, you can, and you just need a slight modification to the method you used in your previous post.

At the point where you added the Average(dummy) series, do this instead.
  • Select C4:C19 and G4:G19 together as a non-contiguous range and COPY.
  • Click in the graph, then Paste->Paste Special and accept the defaults

  • Right click on the newly added dummy series, Change Series Chart Type... and put it on the secondary axis.

  • Now Add Chart Element->Axes->Secondary horizontal and the new 'Record' axis will appear at the top.
  • Now you can do all the formatting, reverse the vertical axes etc etc as required.
