Hello - old time excel but brand new to Powerpivot.

I have 800k records to run - which has killed by PC using my excel formula

=MIN(IF($c2$c797843=c2,$a2$a797843)

[c = customerID]. [a = date]

Is there a DAX version of this?

Many thanks

Hi,

If what you want is a calculated column then you could use this:

Code:
=CALCULATE(MIN([Date]),
         FILTER(
                   ALL(table1),
                   [CustomerID]=EARLIER([CustomerID])
                )
             )

Appreciate this isn't straightforward but if you can get a decent grounding in the holy trinity of CALCULATE(), FILTER() and ALL() then you are well on your way with DAX.

Where it gets interesting is if you want to create a measure for a Pivot table in which case if clientID is your Row/Column label then all you need is MIN(table1[Date]).
