Is it worth it to try to learn all Excel functions?

Hey everyone,

I wanted to post this question to see if this is worthwhile or am I wasting my time. I'm still fairly new to the Excel scene and functions have intrigued me the most. Currently, I'm using Excel 2007, but I'm reading Microsoft Press Excel Functions & Formulas 2010 just to get my feet wet. I don't know what direction I want this to take me, but I am hooked and want to keep learning. I'll take any advice or suggestions. Thanks

Excel Facts

How to total the visible cells?
From the first blank cell below a filtered data set, press Alt+=. Instead of SUM, you will get SUBTOTAL(9,)
The more you know the better. I began using Excel in the 80's when you actually got a manual with all the functions I read the whole book and was at least familiar with all the possibilities. I enjoy Vba scripting the most. Writing very long formulas is still not something I'm good at.

If your really serious I would try upgrading to a new version of Excel. 2007 is a long time ago.

I'm really interested in VBA. I just don't want to miss out on any basics or fundamentals by learning all the different functions.

As far as doing an upgrade, I'll probably be getting a new laptop with the newest version of Excel. Thanks for the advice!!
