The book "VBA for Dummies" was written in 1998, and it does not revolve around Excel; it revolves around VBA in general.

Is this worth going through, do you think (I REALLY need something basic)?

Thanks,

Excel Facts

Bring active cell back into view
Start at A1 and select to A9999 while writing a formula, you can't see A1 anymore. Press Ctrl+Backspace to bring active cell into view.
There is a book:
Excel VBA Programming For Dummies by John Walkenbach written in 2004.

Ah, yes. Thank you! I'll check into it right away.

Otherwise, would anyone suggest I not use the book I mentioned?

Thanks,

I've got that book. It's a good intro but many of the examples are for Visio, not Excel.

If you want to learn Excel VBA, get an Excel-based reference for your version or earlier. (You can use books written for an earlier version but you'll find that some of the examples won't be the most efficient, because extra features -- in pivot tables, for example -- get added, and the code changes to suit). For the same reason, some code in books later than your version just won't work, because those features don't exist yet -- if you get what I mean...

Well, that's what I thought might be the case. I searched my library's Interlibrary Loan program for Walkenbach's "Dummy" book. The newest I could find was for 2000. I supposed that will have to do unless I can track down a more recent copy at a used bookstore or something. We'll see.

Thanks much for the help,

I still use my Visual Basic User's Guide for Excel Version 5.0 (copyright 1993 -1994) that shipped with my first copy of MS Office :)
